My first day at school, the second day of January 1987 is unforgetable. I wore a new school uniform. I had new shoes and a new school bag. I walked up to President's College, Colpetty from home, holding my father's hand nervously. After the morning assembly we went to our new class. Our teacher, Miss Rupika Koralage welcomed us very warmly.
She spoke to us very kindly. Next the attendance register was marked. Then the teacher
related a nice story to us. It was very interesting. The bell rang at 11.30. It was the end of the first day but a very happy day.
I made many new friends. Our teachers were very hardworking. Some were like walking encyclopedias. Gradually I got promoted from one class to another. I passed my G.C.E. and A/L examinations brilliantly.
I was the President of the Senior Science Club and the Secretary of the English Literary Club. I represented the school under 19 Soccer Team. I was a Senior Prefect, too.
Today, I am a Medical Officer attached to Darnbulla
Government Hospital. I owe my success in life to my dear teachers and my 'Alma Mater'. The school and the teachers helped me. I say it with a deepsense of gratitude.
